Volunteer

Volunteers are a vital, irreplaceable part of our team at The Sanibel School. Volunteers come from all community stakeholders: families, retirees, businesses, college students, older students, and even school staff members. Their services can include participating on advisory councils, providing classroom assistance, mentoring individual students and conducting lessons on real-life experiences. Volunteers provide additional support for teachers, media specialists, and school secretaries. However, your most valuable contribution as a volunteer is the additional time students can work with a qualified, caring adult who can help them improve their academic and life skills. Tutors and peer tutors also provide positive role models as they assist younger students in the learning process.

All potential volunteers must first complete a volunteer application form, undergo a background check and then participate in orientation. For more information on our program, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator Cozetta Kelly at 239-472-1617 or via e-mail at  [email protected].
