CONGRATULATIONS TO Brock Catlin and Madison Byrne! These two fifth graders are the winners of the 2019 Bailey’s Festival Essay Contest. Crowning will be Friday, Oct. 18th, live on the Sanibel School’s Sea-TV at 8:00 AM. The Parade is Oct 27 at Baileys.

Sanibel School yearbooks are now on sale for $35. Get yours before the price increases on Dec. 1st. You can order your yearbook online at or use the attached order form. This year’s theme is “Success is a Journey not a Destination”. Yearbooks help preserve the lasting memories made at our fabulous school. Orders yours today!

Available to only 5th and 8th graders, you may purchase a “Love Line Ad” for your own child. Show them how much you love them and how proud you are of their journey so far.  You can include one or more photos of your choice along with a personal message. These ads can also be done online as well. This year we are offering a Full-Page ad for $150, a Half Page ad for $90, a Quarter Page ad for $65, or and Eighth Page ad for $40. The Elementary Choir will have rehearsal on Tuesday, October 15th during their usual time from 2:15-3:15pm in the music room.  The next rehearsal will take place on Tuesday, October 22nd from 2:15-3:15pm.  Please contact Mr. Giangreco at if you have any questions.

DODGEBALL TOURNAMENT TO TAKE PLACE FRIDAY, OCTOBER 18TH FROM 2:30-4:30PM IN THE SANIBEL REC CENTER GYM. COMMUNITY MEMBERS WELCOME TO PARTICIPATE IN OUR NEW COMMUNITY DIVISION! On Friday, October 18th at 2:30pm, in the Sanibel Recreation Center Gymnasium, a Dodgeball Tournament will take place!!!  There will be three divisions in this tournament: a grades 3-5 division, a grades 6-8 division, and a community division; the community division is open to parents and alumni of The Sanibel School that would like to participate.  The winning team from the grades 3-5 division and grades 6-8 division will receive a pizza party at lunch one day during the week of April 15th.  The winning team of the community division will receive free admission to the Fall Music Showcase on Thursday, November 14th.  Interested participants should form teams of 5-6 players and submit a Team Registration Form.  Each player on the team needs to submit a liability form and their $8.00 registration fee in order to qualify for the tournament.  All required forms can be found attached to the Monday Reporter.  Interested participants will also be able to get forms from classroom teachers, Mr. Giangreco, or the front office.  ALL materials must be submitted to your classroom or homeroom teacher (students) OR to the front office of The Sanibel School (community division) NO LATER than 3:00 pm on Thursday, October 17th.  Materials submitted beyond this deadline will NOT be accepted. Additionally, all dodgeball teams should come up with a uniform to wear for the tournament (special matching t-shirts, socks, shoes, etc.).  On the day of the tournament, students will be able to wear their dodgeball team’s uniform to school to get in the spirit of the tournament!  Keep in mind that these uniforms must be school appropriate, or your team will be disqualified from the competition. Family and friends are welcome to come out and support all Dodgeball players.  Concessions will be available for purchase as well.  All money raised will go to support Seahorse Chorale and The Sanibel School Music Department.  We thank you in advance for your support! Interact is collecting items for Lifeline Family Center in Cape Coral.  Lifeline needs baby items (formula, diapers, baby wipes, baby shampoo, wash towels, etc.)  We will be collecting from elementary classrooms or donations can be dropped off in Mrs. Dykhuizen's room. Our collection runs until October 25th.                                                            BAND AND ELEMENTARY CHOIR AT THE BAILEY FEST SUNDAY, OCTOBER 27TH
On Sunday, October 27th, The Steel Drum Band and Elementary Choir will be performing at the Bailey Fest at Bailey’s General Store.  We will be performing around 3:00pm on the stage.  Please come out to the Bailey Fest and support our talented music ensembles from The Sanibel School!  If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Giangreco at  We look forward to seeing you there! 

This Fall we have partnered with Barnes and Noble, Fort Myers to hold a bookfair for The Sanibel School!  The fair will take place at the store on Saturday, November 16th.  A percentage of purchases made at the store that day using The Sanibel School code will go towards buying new books for the Media Center.  This is a great way to raise funds in order to be able to offer wonderful new books for our students to read! Mr. Vilardi and some other special guests (our amazing teachers!) will be there throughout the day to read stories to our kids while you are shopping!  Any purchases made at the store will count towards our total including books, music, stationary, toys, games and even coffee and treats from the cafe! Mark the date on your calendar and start your Holiday shopping early while supporting your school!!


CROSS COUNTRY- Cross Country practice Tuesday and Thursday, October 15th and 17th from 2:15-4:00pm.  Please dress to run and stay cool. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!  Please meet in Mrs. Scarnato's classroom after school. Please check the Cross Country google classroom (p6thq8) for information.


Volleyball tryouts/ practice begins today, October 15th, from 2:15 to 4:00pm in the

Rec Center gym. Please meet in Mrs. Scarnato’s room after school.


On Monday, October 21, we will have our first club meeting at 9 am.  Last year we ended the year with 43 student participants, and everyone who joined last year will be automatically renewed as a member this year. New members to Best Buddies may get registration forms from their homeroom teacher.  Completed registration forms must be received by Friday, October 18 for students to participate in the first meeting.  Members must also have all assignments handed in and be in good standing in all their classes before each meeting.  This will be an opportunity for Middle School students to earn service hours, too!

At our first meeting, we will be making plans for our club events throughout the year including service projects and recreational activities decided upon by the club members held at 1:00 during the school day, and the Annual Regional Friendship Walk will be held on a Saturday next spring at Miromar Outlets. This is a fundraising event and more information on participation will be available soon. Please contact Robin Lear at or Greg Bergamo at for more information.  We welcome any parents or community members to join as well and volunteer in the effort to bring kindness, acceptance and cooperation to our school and city communities.


Our $100 from 300 donors is going strong-so far $1800!!!  YES, just 282 more people/businesses to contribute...But, WE can do this (with everyone’s help to spread the word about this campaign)!  The PTA does not sell candles, wrapping paper, cookie dough, etc.…due to this direct donation!  The PTA has approved/provided $24,000 to help supplement the financial needs of our school...and, likely by the end of the year the total will be closer to $27,000.  Thank you to all who have participated thus far...very much appreciated!!!
