  • Yearbooks are on sale NOW! Yearbooks are $40 now and the price will go up later this year. Mrs. Hall is so excited to see some of you have already purchased yours! You don’t want to miss out!
  • 5th and 8th grade parents! You may go ahead and purchase your ads for your student. Ads are only available for 5th and 8th grade. Go to www.buytheyearbook.com and purchase yours now!
  • 8th Grade parents! Get those baby pictures ready! The yearbook staff would like two photos from you. One baby picture and one photo from Kindergarten. Please send in via email to Mrs. Hall as soon as possible.

CHESS CLUB 

The next Chess Club meeting will take place on September 30th from 7:25- 7:55 a.m. in Mrs. Stokes's room.

INTRAMURAL NEWS

Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball have games this wee on Tuesday (away) and Thursday (home). Also, cross country practices on Tuesday and Thursday after school this week.

THE BOOK FAIR IS COMING!

Our school is hosting a Scholastic Book Fair October 3 through 7! There will be tons of great books to purchase!

I am looking for volunteers to help run our fair! You can sign up to volunteer on our Book Fair Homepage at https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/sanibelschool2 .We need you!

Something new this year is the e-wallet that you can set up for your child so you don’t have to send cash to school – cash, check and credit card are all accepted.

ZAP IS BACK!

Z.A.P. (zeroes aren’t permitted) working lunch is back for any middle school student who failed to turn in an assignment on time (unless it’s an excused absence). Students will have the opportunity to catch up with missing assignments during their lunch time by working in The Media Center. Please encourage your middle schooler to complete all assignments on time.

CROSS COUNTRY

Cross Country practice only on Tuesday this week September 20. We will have Tuesday 2:15-4.   There will be NO practice on Thursday, September 22. Please dress to run and stay cool, bring a water bottle with you.  Hydrate hydrate, hydrate!  Please meet in the middle room in middle school after school.

STEEL DRUM BAND NEWS

Come Support The Steel Drum Band on Sunday, October 23rd at the Homestead-Miami Speedway

On Sunday, October 23rd, The Steel Drum Band has been selected to perform prior to the start of an official NASCAR race!  The race begins at 2:30pm and The Steel Drum Band will be performing sometime prior to the race (specific performance time to be announced soon).  All are invited to come and support The Steel Drum Band and enjoy the race.  Tickets can be purchased at a reduced cost of $40 per person.  If you would like to purchase ticket(s), please submit the attached form and cash or check made out to The Sanibel School by Friday, September 23rd - https://drive.google.com/file/d/13HlJmisdWcWbmVbvqVycMv4b3HWk1IHC/view?usp=sharing.  Please contact Mr. Giangreco at [email protected] if you have any questions.

Seahorse Social Tickets Are Now On Sale

Grab your significant other, encourage your friends (non-members welcome) to join, and head over to The Community House on Friday, October 21st from 5:30-10:00pm for a fun, adults-only evening benefitting The Sanibel School. We will compete for some fabulous live and silent auction items!  A limited number of tickets are available.  Purchase your tickets today by visiting SanibelSpeakEasy.com  We are actively seeking silent auction donations and sponsors for the event.  Please help us on our mission to replace the unsafe/removed playground equipment on top of all of the other vital school elements we fund!

Florida State Statute 1012.42 recognizes that teachers at times must be assigned duties in a class outside the field in which the teacher is certified.  The following teachers at The Sanibel School are engaged in training to add English of other Languages (ESOL) to their certificate: Mrs. Gillett and Ms. Lesko
