REGISTER NOW FOR REC “SUMMER DAY CAMP”
June 3rd through August 2nd
The Sanibel Recreation Department “Summer Day Camp” is a traditional nine week day camp which will run from Monday, June 3rd through Friday, August 2nd. Camp will not be held on Thursday, July 4th. The 2019 Summer Camp program is offered to children entering kindergarten through eighth grade Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Sanibel Recreation Center. Please refer to the registration packet for specific kindergarten registration requirements. Campers will participate in activities such as swimming, arts and crafts and athletics, as well as, a variety of games. Summer camp will be available for purchase by the week.  Campers should bring swim suit, towel and sunscreen daily. Breakfast and lunch will be provided each day. Register in advance and receive the “Early Bird” rate. Financial assistance is also available to qualifying families. . For more information click here. MAY HALF-DAY FUN DAYS AT REC
Half Day Fun Days: May 28th, May 29th & May 30th
Register your child now for upcoming Half Day Fun Days on Tuesday, May 28th, Wednesday, May 29th and Thursday, May 30th. Each day will offer a variety of athletic games, craft projects and special entertainment! Enrollment is available for children in kindergarten through eighth grade. Half Day Fun Days operate from 12:10 – 5:30 p.m. Each child needs to bring a swimsuit and towel. Light snacks will be provided. This new option is now available to families seeking child care on school half days; however, these days are included at no charge for children currently enrolled in the After School Program. MAY FUN DAY AT REC
Full Day Fun Day: May 31st
Join us Friday, May 31st for a variety of fun games, athletics, crafts and activities! Don’t forget our gym and swim combo (weather permitting). Our regular gym and swim combo is always a part of every Fun Day at Rec!  Hours are from 8 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. and will be available for grades Kindergarten through Eighth Grade.  Don’t forget to pack a swimsuit and towel. Each child will need to bring their own lunch on Fun Days.  Register in advance and receive the “Early Bird” rate. Financial assistance is also available to qualifying families. COUNSELOR IN TRAINING PROGRAM
Students Entering 9th and 10th Grade
The City of Sanibel Counselor In Training (C.I.T.) Program is an exciting junior level personal development and leadership opportunity for teens entering 9th and 10th grade that are interested in volunteering with children in a recreational day camp setting. This is a special leadership program designed to prepare teens to become a camp counselor. C.I.T. students will gain valuable work experience, compression only CPR certification and earn community service hours all while making new friends. The Sanibel Recreation Department “Summer Day Camp” is a traditional nine week day camp which will run from Monday, June 3rd through Friday, August 2nd. There is an application that must be completed and returned to the City of Sanibel Recreation Department for review and approval. The application can be picked up at the Sanibel Recreation Center front desk. There is a mandatory meeting today, May 28th, from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm. Registration includes lunch, activity participation, and compression only CPR certification and field trip admissions when applicable. Register in advance and receive the “Early Bird” rate.  S.W.A.T.

SWAT is a youth swim team program for ages 5 to 18 designed to improve stroke technique and to build endurance. Participants must be able to swim the length of the pool (25 yards) in order to participate. In addition to becoming members of Sanibel Water Attack Team, swimmers will get a chance to join Swim Florida for competitions. Stop by or call the Sanibel Recreation Center at (239) 472-0345 for more information on practice times and fee options.

 

A UNIVERSE OF STORIES/READING FOR OTHERS AND SUMMER PROGRAMS                                                      

Registration for the Summer Reading Program has begun at the Sanibel Public Library. This can be completed at the library or at https://sanlib.beanstack.org/reader365. For ages 0-19, readers earn books for themselves and for patients at the Golisano Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida. Programs (no registration required) start June 3 and run through the fourth week of July. Details for all can be found on the Youth page and Calendar at sanlib.org. Questions? GIRL SCOUTS SUMMER SIZZLER SPORTS
Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida is hosting a FREE fun-filled afternoon open to ALL GIRLS Pre-K to 12th grade.  Girls will learn sport activities such as Tug of War, Target Practice, Obstacle Course, Football and more.   Saturday, June 1st, 10:00am – 1:00pm at Camp Caloosa, 19931 SR31, North Fort Myers 33917. LOVE TO EAT?  LEARN TO COOK! 
Join us at the Sanibel Community House for a fun week in the kitchen with Chef Jarred! Kids will learn to prepare and cook delicious international cuisine from around the globe!

Summer Camp   July 29- August 2   9am-12 pm    $50 a Day    $250 a Week    Ages 8-14

Sign up for any day or every day.  Learn the art of cooking and have some fun with Professional Chef Jarred.  Teaching culinary fundamentals to establish their foundational cooking skills.  Learn techniques & Kitchen safety in team settings. Includes lunch. Please sign up no later than Friday, July 19 at noon.  Non-refundable.

SANIBEL SEA SCHOOL SUMMER CAMP REGISTRATION
General registration for Sanibel Sea School’s summer camp programs is open now via the nonprofit organization’s website. A variety of exciting, ocean-themed camp weeks are available for children ages 4-18. Scholarships are available upon request. CIYC 2019 JUNIOR SUMMER SAILING PROGRAM
Captiva Island Yacht Club will once again be holding their U.S. Sailing Certified sailing programs. Session #1 runs from June 17th-28th, Session #2 July 15th-26th, both sessions run for 2 weeks from 8:30 am until 3:30 pm Monday through Friday. Water safety and appreciation of the environment is promoted throughout the sessions. 3, 2, 1…. BLAST OFF WITH SCC VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL 
The countdown has begun at Mission Control. Vacation Bible School at Sanibel Community Church is scheduled for take-off on  June 3 – 7, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Come join your fellow voyagers and enjoy a “Miraculous Mission” and learn how “Jesus Saves the World.” Register here for this free program, which includes plenty of interplanetary fun with rec games, science, crafts, music, Bible stories and an out-of-this-world dinner. H2O YOUTH GROUP ESCAPE ROOM ADVENTURE 
On Wednesday, May 29 H2O middle school students will be venturing off the Island to challenge themselves to escape puzzling and mysterious rooms. They will celebrate their victorious escape with Love Boat ice cream. The high school students will remain on Island and celebrate the ending of an amazing year with beach volleyball, beach fire with smores and a Chick-Fil-A dinner!
