SAC and PTA

The Sanibel School has an active School Advisory Council, SAC.  The Advisory Council meets approximately once each month and is responsible for developing the School Improvement Plan, SIP, and advising the principal.  SAC is composed of parents, teachers, administrators, and business and community representatives.  The team works closely with the principal and staff to advise and assist with educational needs, establish priorities, inform and advise school staff of community issues, and facilitate communications among school, parents, and the community.  If you are interested in becoming a member of this team, please contact the school office. The meetings for the 2009-2010 school year are September 16, October 21, November 18, December 16, January 20, February 17, March 17, April 21, May 19, and June 9. Agendas can be viewed for each month by clicking on the link.  The School Advisory Council invites all interested parties to attend meetings.  If a parent or member of the community would like to address SAC, please call or email SAC Chairperson, Jennifer McSorley.

The Sanibel School PTA has a tradition of enhancing the educational opportunities for all Sanibel students.  Through the hard work of PTA members and the generosity of our wonderful island community, the PTA is able to contribute state of the art technology, musical equipment, teacher training opportunities, valuable school supplies, athletic opportunities, playground equipment, and enriching activities for all of our children.  To meet these goals, the PTA has two major fund-raisers each year: Sally Foster gift-wrap sale in the fall and the Seahorse Festival in the spring.  Many dedicated parents, teachers, and community members contribute to the success of these events.  We urge every parent to join and become involved in the PTA.
