CITIZENS OF THE WEEK
Students in Kindergarten and 1st Grade earn Sea Horse tickets for good behavior, helpful attitude, and an eagerness to learn. Each week we select a Sea Horse ticket winner from these classes. These students get to come to the office and select a prize from our prize cabinet. The following students are this week’s citizens of the week: Kelsye Schafer, Turner Stewart, Libby Phelan, and Danylo Zacharievich. Congratulations!
SANIBEL JUNIOR HONOR SOCIETY OFFICERS
The following middle school students were elected to hold officer positions for SJHS: President Johnny Jensen,

END OF THE FIRST QUARTER
Believe it or not, this Friday is the last day of the first quarter of school, and report cards will be sent home soon! Middle school students need to turn in all late work by Tuesday, Oct. 10th.
ELEMENTARY CHOIR REHEARSAL MONDAY, OCTOBER 9TH. The Elementary Choir will have rehearsal on Monday, October 9th during their normal rehearsal time from 2:15-3:05 in the music room. ORFF CLUB MEETS ON WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 11TH
The Orff Club will meet during their usual time on Wednesday, October 11th from 2:15-3:05pm in the music room. All members are expected to attend. Our next meeting will occur on Wednesday, October 18th. Please contact Mr. Giangreco at [email protected] if you have any question.
PICTURE DAY OCTOBER 11TH
Picture Day is Wednesday, October 11th. Individual pictures for K-7th grade students, Individual and team pictures for Basketball and Cross and staff pictures will be taken on Wednesday, October11th. If you have the flyer describing packets and prices for our original date you may use them. Please remember to Be Proactive and dress for the occasion. These photos are the ones used for the yearbook.
Eighth grade students will NOT have their pictures taken, unless parents schedule an appointment online with Legacy for our special "tux and drape" look this year. COME SUPPORT THE STEEL DRUM BAND AT THEIR FIRST PERFORMANCE AT DING DARLING THIS SUNDAY!
This Sunday (October 15), The Steel Drum Band will present their first performance at J.N. Ding Darling. JOIN THE STEEL DRUMMING BAND AND ELEMENTARY CHOIR AT THE BAILEY FEST SUNDAY, OCTOBER 22!!!
On Sunday, October 22, The Steel Drum Band and Elementary Choir will be performing at the Bailey Fest at Bailey’s General Store. We will be performing around 3:00pm on the stage. VETERAN’S DAY ASSEMBLY AND MUSIC PROGRAM TO TAKE PLACE FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 10 AT 8:05AM
On Friday, November 10th at 8:05am in The Sanibel School cafetorium, The Sanibel School will present their annual Veteran’s Day assembly and music program. This year, the Seahorse Chorale, Elementary Choir, and 4th and 5th grade classes will present an exciting music program celebrating Veteran’s Day. Girls’ and Boys’ Basketball: There will be a playoff game this Tuesday, October 10th against Six Mile Charter School. This will be a HOME playoff basketball game at 5:30 pm. Girls will play first. If we win on Tuesday, we will play on Thursday, October 12th away at The Alva School at 5:30 pm. Please make sure your athlete comes prepared with appropriate gear and a snack and water for the game. Students are welcome to stay for study time with Mrs. Scarnato, or go home and return by 4:30 pm.

STORYBOOK CHARACTER PARADE ON TUESDAY, OCT. 31!
This year all of our students in grades K and First Grade are invited to participate in a Storybook Parade at The Sanibel School!. Parents are also invited to attend to enjoy watching the parade.. There will also be a read-a-thon in elementary classrooms after the parade, so students need to bring a book to read that day. Students in grades 2-8 will be allowed to wear PJ’s and will also read in their rooms on that day as well. What a fun community event!
BOOK FAIR VOLUNTEERS AND COMMUNITY SERVICE HELPERS NEEDED FOR OUR WILD WEST BOOK FAIR AT THE “READING IS O.K! CORRAL”!
Parents, Grandparents, and Friends, we are celebrating reading and it's going to be a rip-snortin’ good time! This fall our Scholastic Wild West Book Fair, is fast approaching and we need volunteer hands to help wrangle up some mighty good reads from Wednesday, October 18th through Wednesday, October 25th in the Media Center! Volunteer partners are needed to prepare decorations, hang posters, set up equipment, assist shoppers, restock merchandise, provide grub for the crew, and help pack-up and clean up. We'll also host a big family night for moseying in to check out the stock on parent conference night, Tuesday, October 24th. We'd love to have you here for multiple shifts, so please come as often as you like and are able. Adult volunteers can sign up to help at www.SignUpGenius.com/go/4090C4FACAE229-wild . It’s full of opportunities for middle school student to work off your community service hours and have fun at the same time too! The Welcome Back Dinner/Pool Party/Fall Festival will be held November 3rd from 5:30-7:30 at the Recreation Center. Cost is $5 per person or $20 max per family. Please join us for swimming, games, crafts, raffles, food and fun! (Note, it is no longer a Potluck dinner, food will be provided…but if you would like to bring a dessert, feel free to do so, it will be much appreciated!)
Please join the PTA! The cost is $20 and the sign up forms will be available in the front office and at every event. Our next PTA meeting will be October 18th at 2:30 in the school conference room. Come and join a committee and share your ideas and add your special touch to our upcoming PTA events!
