                                                                                                                                Sanibel Students want to help out the FISH food pantry.   At this time, any non-perishable items would be greatly appreciated. They are in need of the following:  Peanut butter, jelly, tomato sauce, spaghetti, canned protein (tuna/chicken), soup, cereal, pancake mix and syrup to name a few. We will have a box in the front office where your child may make a donation.  We will begin collecting on Tuesday Sept 5th.



Students in Kindergarten and 1st Grade earn Sea Horse tickets for good behavior, helpful attitude, and an eagerness to learn. Each week we select a Sea Horse ticket winner from these classes.  These students get to come to the office and select a prize from our prize cabinet. The following students are this week’s citizens of the week: Taylor Peach, Alannah Jarvis, Hazel Decosta, and Harrison Jones. Congratulations!



Students in grades 6-8 will receive their interim report for quarter one next Wednesday, Sept. 13th. If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s progress, please contact their teacher/s. Elementary students will not receive interim reports this quarter.



Girls’ and Boys’ Basketball: Basketball practice for boys and girls is Tuesday, September 5 and Thursday, September 7 from 2:15- 4:00 pm. All players need to meet in Mrs. Scarnato’s room directly after school. In order for a student to part take in sports their Intramural Athletics Acknowledge, Consent and Release Form must be turned in to Mrs. Scarnato.  Parents, please be sure to pick up your players at 4:00 pm at The Sanibel Rec Center. 

Girls’ and Boy’s Cross Country: Cross Country practice for boys and girls on Tuesday, September 5 from 2:15- 3:30 pm.  The girls and boys will be having their first meet of the year at Estero Park on Wednesday, September 6th at 6:00 pm. The team will be staying after school with Mrs. Dykhuizen and be traveling by bus to the meet. The bus will be returning to the school. All players need to meet in Mrs. Scarnato’s room directly after school. The Sanibel School Junior Honor Society will be having its first meeting of the year on Friday, September 8th at 9:10 a.m. in Mrs. Scarnato’s room.



Have you made a difference lately?   This message is for 5th through 8th graders.  Students who have participated in community service activities over the past year may complete an online application at  to be recognized for their contribution.  Deliver this information to our principal by November 7 to be considered.



Sanibel School T-shirts are available in the front office (sizes S, M, L and XL) for $10 each.  School spirit days are Fridays giving students many opportunities to wear their pride.  Office hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM.


TIME TO look at volunteering!

Please consider volunteering here at The Sanibel School.  If you are able to give some time this school year, please complete a 2017-2018 Volunteer application and offer to assist us.  We love our volunteers.  They really help in so many ways.  We will need you to sign a privacy form and leave a copy of your driver’s license as well.  Also, all volunteers need to attend a volunteer orientation.  The next one is scheduled for Wednesday, September 27th at 8:30 a.m. Any questions, contact Linda Reynolds at [email protected]  or call her at 239-472-1617.

If you would like to order an engraved paver to be installed in the school courtyard, please pick up an order form from the office.  Orders will continue to be taken throughout the school year.  If you prefer to have a form emailed to you, email Jennifer McSorley at [email protected]   Please include your $125.00 donation to the Sanibel School Fund with each paver order and send the order to the office.  If you have any questions, please contact Jennifer McSorley. All pavers are ordered annually in May.
