CITIZENS OF THE WEEK
Students in Kindergarten and 1st Grade earn Sea Horse tickets for good behavior, helpful attitude, and an eagerness to learn. Each week we select a Sea Horse ticket winner from these classes. These students get to come to the office and select a prize from our prize cabinet. The following students are this week’s citizens of the week: Jase Foster, Evan Nuckolls, Mariia Zacharievich, and Teagan Clark. Congratulations!
WASHINGTON, D. C. FIELD TRIP
Last Friday, March 2nd, final payment letters were sent home with all 8th grade students who are going on the fieldtrip. All final payments are due by Friday, March 9th. There will also be an informational meeting in April for all parents.
ELEMENTARY CHOIR REHEARSAL MONDAY, MARCH 5TH. NEXT REHEARSAL TO TAKE PLACE ON MONDAY, MARCH 12TH The Elementary Choir will have rehearsal on Monday, March 5th during their normal rehearsal time from 2:15-3:05pm. in the music room. CONGRATULATIONS TO 2018 LEE COUNTY ELEMENTARY HONOR CHOIR MEMBERS!
Congratulations to Ava Camputaro, Grace McKinney, Sonia Otalvaro, and Summer Stewart for being selected to participate in the 2018 Lee County Elementary Honor Choir festival. These four students were selected by Mr. Giangreco to sing in an honor choir featuring select 5th grade students from elementary schools across The School District of Lee County. These students have been working hard for weeks to practice for this musically enriching event. They will have a chance to work and learn about making music from guest clinician LuAnne Leone through an all-day choir workshop on Thursday, March 8th. They will conclude their experience by performing in the Lee County Elementary Honor Choir concert on the evening of Thursday March 8th at South Fort Myers High School. We are proud of all four students for representing The Sanibel School well in the Lee County Elementary Honor Choir!
MANDATORY PERFORMING ARTS REHEARSAL FRIDAY, MARCH 9TH On Friday, March 9th, Performing Arts will be having a mandatory rehearsal after school in the music room and cafetorium from 2:15-5:30pm. We will be working to prepare for our upcoming production of Disney’s The Lion King Jr. All Performing Arts students are expected to attend. Walsworth, our new yearbook company, has graciously extended our deadline a week. We passed this onto 8th grade parents who would like to honor their son or daughter with a yearbook ad. Parents of currently enrolled eighth graders were mailed their high school application on January 19, 2018. Those receiving applications can save time by applying online! Please read the documents sent to you carefully, and determine if you wat to apply online, mail it in, or bring it to the Lee County School District Office. DING DARLING JR. DUCK STAMP ART COMPETITION:
This week your child brought home their DUCK STAMP APPLICATION for you to fill out and sign.
They are able to work on their Duck Design at home if they wish. It MUST be returned to Mrs. Stewart by next art class, or Thursday March 8, 2018. Thank you for helping your child be creative and organized.
KINDERGARTEN ORIENTATION AT THE SANIBEL SCHOOL
This year we will have an orientation for kindergartners on April 26, 2018 from 5:30 pm. to 6:30 pm. We invite you and your child to come tour our campus, have your questions answered, and meet the kindergarten teachers too. SEADRAGON SPORTS: TRACK AND FIELD PRACTICE
We will have practice on Tuesday and Thursday, from 2:15-4:00pm this week. There are only three more practices until our Regional Meet. Athletes are to come to Mrs. Scarnato’s room right after school. Please bring running shoes and water. Our regional meet will be Thursday, March 15th. All athletes need to have an intramural consent form signed. Also, grades and behavior must meet intramural requirements.

.PTA NEWS Change of venue for this year’s Seahorse Festival which is tentatively scheduled for April 21st (we had to change the date because of scheduling conflict). I’m very excited about this year’s Seahorse Festival and as soon as we have been approved, I will disclose the details! (Mysteries are always so exciting!)
