TEEN SCENE ANNUAL ZUNI GAME CHALLENGE & CAMP OUT
Sunday, February 19th to Monday, February 20th 

Teens! Join us for the annual “Quest for the Shield of Zuni” survivor games camp-out on February 19th – 20th.  This year we will venture to Alva at Lee County’s Caloosahatchee Regional Park.  This will be a one night camp out with all the traditional camp out fun and activities! Gather up your tribe mates for this team spirited two day outdoor classic!  Teams can enter in groups of three, four or five and if you don’t have a team we will find the right tribe for you.  Campers must supply their own tents and personal gear, but your registration fee covers camp sites, transportation, food, and activities throughout the event.  Registration for Sanibel Recreation Center members is $53.00 and the non-member rate is $67.00.  Sign up by Friday, February 17th.  Teens in grades 6th – 8th are welcome. Space on this teen trip is limitedThere will be a mandatory parent orientation meeting for this event on Thursday, February 16th from 5:30pm to 6:30pm at the Sanibel Recreation Center to discuss camp itinerary and details.  For more information contact Dave at the Recreation Center at 472-0345.  This is the most talked about Teen event of the year so don’t miss out!

FEBRUARY FUN DAYS AT REC

Fun Days Monday, February 20th and Tuesday, February 21st
Register your child now for the upcoming Fun Days Monday, February 20th and Tuesday, February 21st. The Fun Days will offer a variety of athletic games, craft projects and special entertainment. Don’t forget our gym and swim combo (weather permitting). Our regular gym and swim combo is always a part of every Fun Day at Rec!  Hours are from 8am – 5:30pm and will be available for grades Kindergarten through Eighth Grade.  Don’t forget to pack a swimsuit and towel. Each child will need to bring their own lunch on Fun Days.  Register in advance and receive the “Early Bird” rate. For more information contact the Recreation Department at (239) 472-0345.

NEW SESSION

ARCHERY TEAM RECREATION CENTER GRADES 5-8

Wednesdays from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m.

Welcome Archers! The Sanibel Recreation Archery Team wants you!  This co-ed team sport will run on Wednesday afternoons at the Recreation Center range from February 8th through April 5th from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m.  Archery will include an introduction to a standard compound bow as well as competitive target skills for tournaments and events.  The Recreation Department currently has three certified archery instructors on staff for this team activity.  Registration includes a team t-shirt, use of Recreation Department archery equipment, and transportation to and from local events.  Cost will be $42.00 for members and $55.00 for non-members. ELEMENTARY AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

Spring Trimester Runs February 22nd –May 25th, 2017

Registration is now available for the 2016-2017 Sanibel Recreation Center After School Program Spring Trimester.  The After School program runs Monday through Friday from 2:10 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. throughout the school year. It is available for children ages kindergarten through fifth grade. Sessions will require re-enrollment during each designated trimester and must be purchased prior to the start of each session. SPRING TRIMESTER

TEENS AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

Spring Trimester Runs February 22nd –May 25th, 2017
Registration is now available for the new 2016-2017 Sanibel Recreation Center Teen Scene After School Program Spring Trimester.  The Teen Scene After School program runs Monday through Friday from 2:10 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. throughout the school year. It is available for children in sixth through eighth grade.  Teens will enjoy a variety of on and off property activities throughout each school week including but not limited to: homework research days at the Sanibel Library, Island Cinema film series presentations, entry level conditioning clinics hosted in the Recreation Center weight room, educational island beach days in collaboration with the Sanibel Sea School, daily use of the Recreation Center After School amenities, community service opportunities and local pizza and frozen yogurt treat days. Transportation for island activities will be provided via the City Teen Scene van.  A full schedule will be available at the Recreation Center front desk. Although a current Recreation Center membership was required in the past in order to attend the After School program, there is now a separate registration fee. S.W.A.T.

Register Now!

SWAT is a youth swim team program for ages 5 to 18 designed to improve stroke technique and to build endurance. Participants must be able to swim the length of the pool (25 yards) in order to participate. In addition to becoming members of Sanibel Water Attack Team, swimmers will get a chance to join Swim Florida for competitions. LOGOS FROG NIGHT AT SANIBEL COMMUNITY CHURCH

Wear green this Wednesday, February 15 for Logos FROG night at Sanibel Community Church, 1740 Periwinkle Way.  We’ll be hopping from 3:30 pm – 6:45 pm.  We’ll also eat some green foods.  For registration information, call Kathy Cramer 239-472-2684 or email [email protected]

AT THE SANIBEL PUBLIC LIBRARY                                                                          Through March 16: The “3rd - 5th After-school Clique” is on Tuesdays at 3 p.m. and “K-2 After-school Crew” is on Thursdays at 3 p.m.; snacks provided at both. Bessie the R.E.A.D. dog is scheduled for Thursdays at 4 p.m. Two “all ages” Story times are offered on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. and again at 1 p.m. T(w)eens! Check out the many new titles!
