UPCOMING HALF DAY FUN DAY AT REC!

Registration is Available Now!

Register your child now for the upcoming Half Day Fun Day on Friday, December 22nd. The Half Day Fun Day will offer a variety of athletic games and craft projects. Enrollment is available for children in kindergarten through eighth grade. The Half Day Fun Day program operates from 12:10 to 5:30 p.m. Each child needs to bring a swimsuit and towel. Light snacks will be provided on half days, children will need to bring their own lunch on full days. Half Day Fun Days are available to families seeking child care on school half days; this day is included at no charge for children currently enrolled in the After School Program. HOLIDAY REC CAMP!

Registration is available now!
Chill out and join us for some frosty fun during this year’s winter break!   Highlights include on-island field trips, crafts, games and a variety of frozen holiday treats. The schedule will consist of 2, four day weeks of Holiday Camp this year. Holiday Camp will be Tuesday, December 26th through Friday, December 29th and Tuesday, January 2nd through Friday, January 5th with no camp on December 25th and January 1st. Holiday Camp will operate from 8 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Enrollment is available for children in Kindergarten through Eighth Grade. Don’t forget to pack a swimsuit and towel. ELEMENTARY AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

Winter Trimester Runs November 6th, 2017 – February 16th, 2018

Registration is now available for the 2017-2018 Sanibel Recreation Center After School Program Winter Trimester.  The After School program runs Monday through Friday from 2:10 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. throughout the school year. It is available for children ages kindergarten through fifth grade. Sessions will require re-enrollment during each designated trimester and must be pre-purchased prior to the start of each session. TEENS AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

Registration is now available for the new 2017-2018 Sanibel Recreation Center Teen Scene After School Program Winter Trimester.  The Teen Scene After School program runs Monday through Friday from 2:10 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. throughout the school year. It is available for children in sixth through eighth grade.  Teens will enjoy a variety of on and off property activities throughout each school week including community service opportunities. Transportation for island activities will be provided via the City Teen Scene van.  A full schedule will be available at the Recreation Center front desk. Sessions will require re-enrollment during each designated trimester and must be purchased prior to the start of each session.  S.W.A.T.- Register Now!

SWAT is a youth swim team program for ages 5 to 18 designed to improve stroke technique and to build endurance. Participants must be able to swim the length of the pool (25 yards) in order to participate. In addition to becoming members of Sanibel Water Attack Team, swimmers will get a chance to join Swim Florida for competitions. TEEN ADVISORY GROUP DEC. 14 @ SANIBEL PUBLIC LIBRARY                    Get involved in what's happening at Sanibel Public Library! AFTER-SCHOOL AT THE SANIBEL PUBLIC LIBRARY                                       Clique (4th-6th grade) Tuesdays at 3 p.m. and Crew (K-3rd grade) Thursdays at 3 p.m. Each is tailored to the group’s age levels. Crafting, building, making, and playing--with books and a snack thrown in. Bessie the R.E.A.D. dog is scheduled for rain-free Thursdays at 4 p.m. All continue during Winter Break. Questions? AFTER SCHOOL OCEAN ART AT SANIBEL SEA SCHOOL                                     On Thursday afternoons beginning November 30th, Sanibel Sea School will offer after school art classes for students in grades 1-5. Participants will have an opportunity to create beautiful, eco-friendly crafts made from natural materials each week. “We’ll have a different art project planned for each session, and we will provide all of the supplies,” said Director of Education Nicole Finnicum. “We love to offer After School Art around the holidays, because our creations make great gifts,” she added. Past crafts have included painted driftwood signs, sand dollar ornaments, and picture frames decorated with shells.  Sessions are from 3:30 to 5:30 PM, and parent pick up and drop off will be at Sanibel Sea School’s Flagship Campus (455 Periwinkle Way). Participants can register for individual classes for $20 each, or sign up for the four-week series at a discounted rate of $75. REGISTRATION NOW OPEN FOR 2018 YOUTH FLAG FOOTBALL SEASON!

The registration period for the 2017 Youth Flag Football season is from Nov.26th – Dec.18rd.  The cost is $70 per player with a discount for additional family members.  Developmental Division for Kindergarteners and First Grader 1st Timers – only $29!  Please see the information link and registration link on our website at www.SanibelSports.org. YOUNG CHEFS COOKING SERIES AT THE COMMUNITY HOUSE

On Monday, January 1st, from 2:30-5:30, students at the Culinary Education Center will travel to Spain

to learn to make Tapas, Gazpacho, Whole Grain Paella, and Caramel Flan. Join us to learn new culinary skills and try new flavors!

Classes are designed for students 8 years old and up; $35 per child includes the meal prepared in class.

SANIBEL COMMUNITY CHURCH

On the 28th and 29th of December H2O the SCC youth ministry will be having an event called 30 Hours of Famine. The event's purpose is to raise awareness for world hunger and poverty and to help us understand by a first-hand experience what it feels like to be hungry. For the entire 30 hours of the event we will be fasting and doing activities and service projects focused on helping or learning about hunger and poverty. There will be games, guest speakers, worship, a movie, a city built out of cardboard boxes, and many other things during the event. The event starts at 10 a.m. on the 28th and ends at 4 p.m. on the 29th. Contact Pastor Kevin for more information. H2O, the middle school youth program at Sanibel Community Church meets weekly at 1740 Periwinkle Way in Sanibel in the youth room from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.  All middle school students are welcome to attend.  Teens will experience games, conversation, small group time and worship. Also if you are hungry there is pizza, soda, and sweets at the snack bar. We will be discussing real life issues that teens are dealing with today.
