UPCOMING FUN DAY AT REC!
Wednesday, November 22nd from 8:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Join us Wednesday, November 22nd for a variety of fun games, athletics, crafts and activities! Don’t forget our gym and swim combo (weather permitting). Our regular gym and swim combo is always a part of every Fun Day at Rec! Hours are from 8 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. and will be available for grades Kindergarten through Eighth Grade. Don’t forget to pack a swimsuit and towel. Each child will need to bring their own lunch on Fun Days. Register in advance and receive the “Early Bird” rate. Celebrating Ten Years of Living Fit4Life at the Sanibel Recreation Center
Join us as we celebrate ten years of living “Fit4Life” from 3 – 5 p.m. on Monday, December 4, 2017 at the Sanibel Recreation Center, 3880 Sanibel Captiva Road. Activities include; music & dancing, photo booth, bounce house, door prize drawings every 15 minutes, facility tours, cupcakes and a 10 year commemorative video.
ELEMENTARY AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM
Winter Trimester Runs November 6th, 2017 – February 16th, 2018
Registration is now available for the 2017-2018 Sanibel Recreation Center After School Program Winter Trimester. The After School program runs Monday through Friday from 2:10 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. throughout the school year. It is available for children ages kindergarten through fifth grade. Sessions will require re-enrollment during each designated trimester and must be pre-purchased prior to the start of each session. For more info, call the Sanibel Recreation Center at (239) 472-0345.
TEENS AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

Registration is now available for the new 2017-2018 Sanibel Recreation Center Teen Scene After School Program Winter Trimester. The Teen Scene After School program runs Monday through Friday from 2:10 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. throughout the school year. It is available for children in sixth through eighth grade. Teens will enjoy a variety of on and off property activities throughout each school week including community service opportunities. Transportation for island activities will be provided via the City Teen Scene van. A full schedule will be available at the Recreation Center front desk. SWAT is a youth swim team program for ages 5 to 18 designed to improve stroke technique and to build endurance. Participants must be able to swim the length of the pool (25 yards) in order to participate. In addition to becoming members of Sanibel Water Attack Team, swimmers will get a chance to join Swim Florida for competitions. H2O YOUTH MINISTRY AT SANIBEL COMMUNITY CHURCH - NERF WARS H2O, the middle school youth program at Sanibel Community Church meets Wednesday at 1740 Periwinkle Way in Sanibel in the youth room from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. All middle school students are welcome to attend. Teens will experience games, conversation, small group time and worship. Also if you are hungry there is pizza, soda and sweets at the snack bar. We will be discussing real life issues that teens are dealing with today. Feel free to contact Pastor Kevin Schafer for further questions [email protected]. This Saturday, all middle school boys are invited to the youth center from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for an epic Nerf gun war. Bring your own nerf gun and invite your friends! On Thanksgiving Day we will also be having a Turkey Bowl from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. We will be hosting a pickup football game at the community park across from the Sanibel Bean. Water and equipment will be provided.
AFTER SCHOOL OCEAN ART AT SANIBEL SEA SCHOOL
On Thursday afternoons beginning November 30th, Sanibel Sea School will offer after school art classes for students in grades 1-5. Participants will have an opportunity to create beautiful, eco-friendly crafts made from natural materials each week.
“We’ll have a different art project planned for each session, and we will provide all of the supplies,” said Director of Education Nicole Finnicum. “We love to offer After School Art around the holidays, because our creations make great gifts,” she added. Past crafts have included painted driftwood signs, sand dollar ornaments, and picture frames decorated with shells.
Sessions are from 3:30 to 5:30 PM, and parent pick up and drop off will be at Sanibel Sea School’s Flagship Campus (455 Periwinkle Way). Participants can register for individual classes for $20 each, or sign up for the four-week series at a discounted rate of $75. Sanibel Sea School is a 501c3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve the ocean’s future, one person at a time. To learn more and register, visit sanibelseaschool.org.
YOUNG CHEFS COOKING SERIES AT THE COMMUNITY HOUSE
On Monday, December 4th, from 2:30-5:30, students at the Culinary Education Center will travel to Japan to learn to make Vegetable Sushi Rolls, Tempura, Teriyaki, and Pacific Rim Fruit Sundaes.
Join us to learn new culinary skills and try new flavors!
Classes are designed for students 8 years old and up; $35 per child includes the meal prepared in class.

JOIN THE SUNDAY NIGHT SANIBEL UCC CREW The Sanibel Congregational UCC middle school and high school youth group - CREW - is continuing the year of SERVICE PROJECTS, FELLOWSHIP, AND FUN on Sunday nights at the Church complex at 2050 Periwinkle. Where is that turkey tonight? It’s our annual turkey shoot on Wednesday, November 15 at Sanibel Community Church, 1740 Periwinkle Way. Don’t stick your beak out Mr. Turkey.
