RECREATION CENTER NEWS

SPRING BREAK CAMP

April 10th – April 14th

Join us during Spring Break at the Sanibel Recreation Center for a fun filled week with athletics, games and crafts. Each day will also have a specialty snack that coincides with the theme. Spring Break Camp will be held Monday, April 10th through Friday, April 14th from 8 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Enrollment is available for children in Kindergarten through Eighth Grade. Don’t forget to pack a swimsuit and towel.  Each child will need to bring their own lunch for the day.  Register in advance and receive the “Early Bird” rate. UPCOMING FUN DAY AT REC!

Monday, April 17th from 8:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Join us Monday, April 17th for a variety of fun games, athletics, crafts and activities! Don’t forget our gym and swim combo (weather permitting). Our regular gym and swim combo is always a part of every Fun Day at Rec!  Hours are from 8am – 5:30pm and will be available for grades Kindergarten through Eighth Grade.  Don’t forget to pack a swimsuit and towel. ELEMENTARY AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

Spring Trimester Runs February 22nd –May 25th, 2017

Registration is now available for the 2016-2017 Sanibel Recreation Center After School Program Spring Trimester.  The After School program runs Monday through Friday from 2:10 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. throughout the school year. It is available for children ages kindergarten through fifth grade. Sessions will require re-enrollment during each designated trimester and must be purchased prior to the start of each session. SPRING TRIMESTER

TEENS AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

Spring Trimester Runs February 22nd –May 25th, 2017
Registration is now available for the new 2016-2017 Sanibel Recreation Center Teen Scene After School Program Spring Trimester.  The Teen Scene After School program runs Monday through Friday from 2:10 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. throughout the school year. It is available for children in sixth through eighth grade.  Teens will enjoy a variety of on and off property activities throughout each school week including but not limited to: homework research days at the Sanibel Library, Island Cinema film series presentations, entry level conditioning clinics hosted in the Recreation Center weight room, educational island beach days in collaboration with the Sanibel Sea School, daily use of the Recreation Center After School amenities, community service opportunities and local pizza and frozen yogurt treat days. Transportation for island activities will be provided via the City Teen Scene van.  A full schedule will be available at the Recreation Center front desk. Although a current Recreation Center membership was required in the past in order to attend the After School program, there is now a separate registration fee. Sessions will require re-enrollment during each designated trimester and must be purchased prior to the start of each session. S.W.A.T.

Register Now!

SWAT is a youth swim team program for ages 5 to 18 designed to improve stroke technique and to build endurance. Participants must be able to swim the length of the pool (25 yards) in order to participate. In addition to becoming members of Sanibel Water Attack Team, swimmers will get a chance to join Swim Florida for competitions. CIYC 2017 JUNIOR SUMMER SAILING PROGRAM

Captiva Island Yacht Club will once again be holding their U.S. Sailing Certified sailing programs.

Session #1 runs from June 12th-16th & June 19th-23rd,  Session #2 July 10th-14th & July 17th-21st , both sessions run for 2 weeks from 9 am  until 4 pm Monday through Friday.  Water safety and appreciation of the environment is promoted throughout the sessions.  More information is available at www.CaptivaIYC.net/Activities/Sailing or contact Lauren Davies at the Club, 239-472-4133, ext 4.

 

The SCUCC CREW ON SUNDAY EVENINGS 4/23 through 5/21

Youth from grades K-12 are invited to join the CREW at the Sanibel Congregational United Church of Christ on most Sunday evenings from 5:30-7 pm for Fun, Fellowship, Faith, Outreach and Mission activities. The K-5th group meets separately, but at the same time as the 6-12th team. Recent activities have included a crowd favorite, Scavenger hunting, and the upcoming fundraising service project Bake Sale. There will be no gatherings on April 9 and 16 due to Spring Break. The group welcomes students of all backgrounds and faiths. SCUCC is located at 2050 Periwinkle Way. LOGOS UNDERCONSTRUCTION NIGHT AT SANIBEL COMMUNITY CHURCH

Our final night of Semester 2 for Logos is Under Construction Family Banquet Night.  We will present our yearly awards and see a Logos 2016-17 video.  The kids will present a special musical gift to the families. What a fun night for the whole family to gather together.  Parents are invited to join us for dinner at 5:30 pm.  Please RSVP the number attending to [email protected].
