MAY HALF-DAY FUN DAYS AT REC

Half Day Fun Days: May, 24th, May 25th & May 26th

Register your child now for upcoming Half Day Fun Days on Wednesday, May 24th, Thursday, May 25th and Friday, May 26th. Each day will offer a variety of athletic games, craft projects and special entertainment! Enrollment is available for children in kindergarten through eighth grade. Half Day Fun Days operate from 12:10 – 5:30 p.m. Each child needs to bring a swimsuit and towel. Light snacks will be provided. This new option is now available to families seeking child care on school half days; however, these days are included at no charge for children currently enrolled in the After School Program. REGISTER NOW FOR REC “SUMMER DAY CAMP”

May 30th through July 28th

Join us at “Summer Day Camp” for an all-inclusive nine week day camp where campers participate in activities such as swimming, arts and crafts, athletics and a variety of games. Special guests along with an enhanced field trip itinerary will also be a part of all the action.  Summer camp will be available for purchase by the week.  Campers should bring swim suit, towel and sunscreen daily. Summer Camp is offered to children entering grades first through eighth grade and will operate Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on all days. Breakfast and lunch will be provided each day. BABYSITTER TRAINING, JUNIOR LIFEGUARD AND PET FIRST AID CAMP AGES 11-15

May 30th – June 2nd

This five-day camp will provide youth ages 11-15 with the skills every parent wants in a babysitter including safety, basic child care, safe play, critical emergency action skills, first aid and CPR skills. Participants will be introduced to the basic knowledge and skills required to be a lifeguard as well as receive training in Pet first aid. Camp will be held Tuesday, May 30th through Friday, June 2nd from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Participants should pack a lunch, swim suit, towel and sunscreen each day. The cost of the course is only $137 for members and $179 for non-members and includes all materials. Participants must attend all sessions to receive certifications. COUNSELOR IN TRAINING PROGRAM

Students Entering 9th and 10th Grade

The City of Sanibel Counselor In Training (C.I.T.) Program is an exciting junior level personal development and leadership opportunity for teens entering 9th and 10th grade that are interested in working with children in a recreational day camp setting. This is a special leadership program designed to prepare teens to become a camp counselor. C.I.T. students will gain valuable work experience, compression only CPR certification, earn community service hours and required school credit all while making new friends. The Sanibel Recreation Department “Summer Day Camp” is a traditional nine week day camp which will run from Tuesday, May 30th through Friday, July 28th. There is an application that must be completed and returned to the City of Sanibel Recreation Department for review and approval. The application can be picked up at the Sanibel Recreation Center front desk. There will be a mandatory meeting for C.I.T.s on Tuesday, May 23rd  from 4 – 7 p.m. Registration includes lunch, activity participation, compression only CPR certification and field trip admissions. Register in advance and receive the “Early Bird” rate.

SWAT is a youth swim team program for ages 5 to 18 designed to improve stroke technique and to build endurance. Participants must be able to swim the length of the pool (25 yards) in order to participate. In addition to becoming members of Sanibel Water Attack Team, swimmers will get a chance to join Swim Florida for competitions. CIYC 2017 JUNIOR SUMMER SAILING PROGRAM

Captiva Island Yacht Club will once again be holding their U.S. Sailing Certified sailing programs.

Session #1 runs from June 12th-16th & June 19th-23rd,  Session #2 July 10th-14th & July 17th-21st , both sessions run for 2 weeks from 9 am  until 4 pm Monday through Friday.  Water safety and appreciation of the environment is promoted throughout the sessions.  More information is available at www.CaptivaIYC.net/Activities/Sailing or contact Lauren Davies at the Club, 239-472-4133, ext 4.

 

VBS MAKER FUN FACTORY JUNE 5-9

It’s time for VBS again at Sanibel Community Church, 1740 Periwinkle Way.  Maker Fun Factory is the theme this year for all kids ages 3 years old thru completed 5th grade.  It will be a world where curious kids become hands-on inventors using gears and gadgets.  Each day from 4:00 – 7:00 pm kids will experience music, games, missions and a movie, storytelling, dinner, and the imagination station.  There is no cost, but we will have a daily collection for missions.  For registration information contact Kathy Cramer [email protected] 239-472-2684
