ELEMENTARY AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

Fall Trimester Runs August 10th – November 3rd, 2017

Registration is now available for the 2017-2018 Sanibel Recreation Center After School Program Fall Trimester.  The After School program runs Monday through Friday from 2:10 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. throughout the school year. It is available for children ages kindergarten through fifth grade. Sessions will require re-enrollment during each designated trimester and must be pre-purchased prior to the start of each session. TEENS AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

Fall Trimester Runs August 10th – November 3rd, 2017
Registration is now available for the new 2017-2018 Sanibel Recreation Center Teen Scene After School Program Fall Trimester.  The Teen Scene After School program runs Monday through Friday from 2:10 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. throughout the school year. It is available for children in sixth through eighth grade.  Teens will enjoy a variety of on and off property activities throughout each school week including community service opportunities. Transportation for island activities will be provided via the City Teen Scene van.  A full schedule will be available at the Recreation Center front desk. Sessions will require re-enrollment during each designated trimester and must be purchased prior to the start of each session. S.W.A.T.

SWAT is a youth swim team program for ages 5 to 18 designed to improve stroke technique and to build endurance. Participants must be able to swim the length of the pool (25 yards) in order to participate. In addition to becoming members of Sanibel Water Attack Team, swimmers will get a chance to join Swim Florida for competitions. SANIBEL GIRL SCOUTS:   HALLOWEEN COSTUME DONATIONS                                                    The Daisy and Brownie Girl Scouts for their first service project this year are going to be collecting gently used or new Halloween costumes for elementary age children. Parts of Lee County are still dealing with flood water in their homes and may still be displaced. At this difficult and financially stressful time for these families the Girl Scouts would like to add some normalcy into the children’s lives and take care of an added expensive for the family. If you have donations free of stains and tears you can contact: Lindsay Peelman at [email protected] and we will accept your donation and help to distribute it to the eastern parts of our county. Thank You, and I hope you’re all safe, dry, and well!

FIRST NIGHT OF LOGOS – FIESTA NIGHT ON OCTOBER 4

Come ready to have an afternoon of fun at the first LOGOS night at Sanibel Community Church, 1740 Periwinkle Way on Wednesday, October 4.  From 3:30 pm – 6:45 pm, the kids will participate in a variety of activities including crafts, games, music, and a lesson.  Then they will experience a meal and a group activity at Fiesta Family Fun Time.  This midweek family program is for kids ages 3 years old through 5th grade.  For information about registration contact Kathy Cramer 239-472-2684 or [email protected]  All Parent meeting is 3:45 pm in the Family Life Center.

 

THE CHILDREN'S EDUCATION CENTER OF THE ISLANDS (CECI)

Invites community members to its 3rd annual Pigs in Paradise pig roast on Saturday, October 14 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the preschool, 350 Casa Ybel Road. The family-friendly evening will feature pigs roasted in two different styles by CECI parents. Admission will include roasted pork, sides, beverages and a milkshake & cookie bar. Tickets are $30 in advance, $35 at the door and $10 for children ages 13 to 18. Kids 12 and under are free. TEEN ADVISORY GROUP OCT. 12 @ SANLIB                                                      Get involved in what's happening at Sanibel Public Library! Middle (and high school students) are invited to participate and share ideas for future programs and activities. Guess what? AFTER-SCHOOL @ SANLIB                                                                                         Drop in to the After-school Clique or Crew at the Sanibel Public Library. Tuesdays at 3 p.m. is 4th-6th grade Clique and Thursdays at 3 p.m. is Kindergarten-3rd grade Crew. Each is tailored to the group’s age levels. Crafting, building, making, playing with books and a snack thrown in. AFTER SCHOOL CAST NETTING

For the month of October 2017, Sanibel Sea School will offer cast netting lessons for elementary and middle school students. This is an after school program designed for kids to learn how to use cast nets for the first time, or to hone their existing skills. Cast netting techniques and sight fishing for forage fish will be covered, and we will visit different locations to test our throwing abilities. Students will build their skills over this series in time to compete in the Annual Esperanza Woodring Memorial Cast Net Rodeo, to be held on November 4th.

Sanibel Sea School will pick up students from the Sanibel Recreation Center at 3:30 PM and parent pick up will be at Sanibel Sea School (455 Periwinkle Way) at 5:30 PM. Parents are also welcome to drop off their students at Sanibel Sea School.

Tuesdays in October-10/3, 10/10, 10/17 and 10/24 from 3:30 - 5:30 PM. Open to Grades K-8

$20 per session. $75 for 4 class series

SUNDAY NIGHT SANIBEL UCC CREW KICKS OFF ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 7th                 The Sanibel CUCC middle school and high school youth group - CREW - is kicking off the year of SERVICE PROJECTS, FELLOWSHIP, AND FUN with a trip to Headpinz on Saturday, Oct 7. We will meet at the church located at 2050 Periwinkle at 5:30 and return by 9 pm after an evening of Bowling, Laser Tag, and Ropes Course. After this invigorating kickoff, our amazing crew will meet Sunday evenings from 5:30-7:30 for fun outdoor games, meaningful discussions in a safe, accepting environment, and service projects selected by the crew. YOUNG CHEFS ‘COOKING SERIES AT THE COMMUNITY HOUSE

Join us for an around-the-world tour of exciting cooking classes in our new Culinary Education Center!

Each month, you’ll travel to a different country to learn to create meals that are delicious, healthy, and guaranteed to impress. Perhaps your new culinary skills will lead you to becoming the next Junior Chef!
