RECREATION CENTER NEWS
AMERICAN RED CROSS SPRING YOUTH GROUP SWIM LESSONS
Spring Session: Saturdays, March 10th – May 5th
Improve your child’s comfort level and abilities in the water. Group lessons are offered for youth starting at 6 months. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis. Cost per 9 week session for Recreation Center members is only $55 and $73 for non-members. Any accompanying non-members must present a valid photo ID at front desk. A class schedule with detailed lesson information is available at the Recreation Center’s front desk. Please call the Recreation Center for requirements and class options.
SPRING BREAK CAMP
March 19th – March 23rd
Join us during Spring Break at the Sanibel Recreation Center for a fun filled week with athletics, games and crafts. Spring Break Camp will be held Monday, March 19th through Friday, March 23rd from 8 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Enrollment is available for children in Kindergarten through Eighth Grade. Don’t forget to pack a swimsuit and towel. Each child will need to bring their own lunch for the day. Register in advance and receive the “Early Bird” rate. Spring Trimester Runs February 21st, 2018 – May 30th, 2018
Sign up now to receive early bird rates for the 2017-2018 Sanibel Recreation Center After School Program Spring Trimester. The After School program runs Monday through Friday from 2:10 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. throughout the school year. It is available for children ages kindergarten through fifth grade. Sessions will require re-enrollment during each designated trimester and must be pre-purchased prior to the start of each session. For more info, call the Sanibel Recreation Center at (239) 472-0345.
SPRING TRIMESTER: TEENS AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM
Spring Trimester Runs February 21st, 2018 – May 30th, 2018
Sign up now to receive early bird rates for the new 2017-2018 Sanibel Recreation Center Teen Scene After School Program Spring Trimester. The Teen Scene After School program runs Monday through Friday from 2:10 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. throughout the school year. It is available for children in sixth through eighth grade. Teens will enjoy a variety of on and off property activities throughout each school week including community service opportunities. Transportation for island activities will be provided via the City Teen Scene van. A full schedule will be available at the Recreation Center front desk. SWAT is a youth swim team program for ages 5 to 18 designed to improve stroke technique and to build endurance. Participants must be able to swim the length of the pool (25 yards) in order to participate. In addition to becoming members of Sanibel Water Attack Team, swimmers will get a chance to join Swim Florida for competitions. YOUNG CHEFS COOKING SERIES AT THE COMMUNITY HOUSE
On Monday, March 5th, from 2:30-5:30 pm., students at the Culinary Education Center will travel to Germany to discover Schnitzels, Homemade Sausages, and Dessert Pretzels. Join us to learn new culinary skills and try new flavors!
Classes are designed for students 8 years old and up; $35 per child includes the meal prepared in class.

FISH OR SURF AFTER SCHOOL AT SEA SCHOOL
Sanibel Sea School will once again offer After School Programs for Sanibel School students in March and April. Activities will include fishing and surfing, and participants will have a chance to learn a new sport or improve their existing skills. Fishing will be held on Wednesdays in March, and Surfing will be held on Wednesdays in April from 3:30 to 5:30 PM at Sanibel Sea School’s Flagship Campus (455 Periwinkle Way). LOGOS EMOJI NIGHT AT SANIBEL COMMUNITY CHURCH
Can you identify them all this Wednesday, March 7 at Logos Emoji Night at Sanibel Community Church, 1740 Periwinkle Way? Ring the bell when you know the answer! Logos is for families with kids from 3 year olds thru fifth graders. This midweek program happens on Wednesdays from 3:30 – 6:45 pm.
